This is a simple keymap editor for Freemacs MULE. Once you have edited a font file, you will want to decide the keyboard mappings for your font (which key must show which character). You can do this with MAKEKEYB.

MAKEKEYB produces keyboard mapping files for the FreeDOS utility XKEYB. I have included a copy of XKEYB in this package. Freemacs MULE uses XKEYB to load the keyboard driver.

MAKEKEYB is started without arguments. When you invoke

makekeyb

at the FREEDOS prompt, you will be asked for the font file whose glyphs you want to map to keys. If you are making the bindings for a
Freemacs MULE .dat file, you enter the filename without extension. Then you will be prompted for which keyboard you have. You must enter the corrisponding .key file (without the extension). If you have an US keyboard, enter us; if you have an Italian keyboard, enter it (see the FREEDOS xkeyb documentation).

MAKEKEYB will then loaad the font, and prompt you for the characters, one by one. For each charachter, press the key or the
two-keys combination which you want to bind to your character.

When you are done with the entire font, a new .key file will be written, to be used by XKEYB.
